Zauchensee – An exceptional Ski Area

Ski stars and freeride hotspot

The Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl ski area offers challenging and varied downhill runs, wide carving pistes, excellent freeride routes including the legendary ‘East’ on the Gamskogel, several tree runs and a racing history with downhill world champion Michael Walchhofer, who is at home here. Zauchensee has been the venue for FIS World Cup races for over 40 years. The Kälberloch piste on the Gamskogel, one of the most challenging and spectacular courses in the women's Ski World Cup, is mainly used for the downhill and super-G speed events.

Zauchensee offers ideal conditions for young skiers with the Kogelalm training centre, including two closed-off training runs for slalom and giant slalom.

The ski area is also a hotspot for freeriders. In addition to the famous ‘East’ variant from the Gamskogel, there are numerous powder runs on unspoilt slopes. The best way to find them is with local guides from our ski schools, who know exactly where the perfect powder snow is hidden.

Service and culinary delights in Zauchensee

The service valley stations ‘Weltcuparena Zauchensee’ and ‘Highport Flachauwinkl’ are not only the entry points to the Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl ski area, they also offer free parking for cars and buses, well-stocked sports shops with ski and equipment hire as well as a service workshop, storage and changing facilities and several cosy pubs and bars to round off your day.

Your physical well-being is of course also well catered for in the ski area. In the numerous ski huts and mountain restaurants you can enjoy culinary delicacies and refreshments, mainly prepared from regional products, and on the sun terraces you can look forward to fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.
